Soirée de Gala

T-shirt : Petit Bateau, trousers : Zapa, belt : Richard Gampel

As the weather is much more warmer than a couple of weeks ago, I have decided that it is the time to take my mousselines scarves out of the closet. Let's start with a 90 cm scarf named "Soirée de Gala" by Jean-Louis Clerc (the 90 cm size is no longer made by Hermès, unfortunately, as my friend Catherine told me). This mousseline edition is from 2006 but the design is from 1950! Soirée de Gala was also reissued for AW2010 in twill silk, you can see a lovely colorway on Bienchen's blog, Musings of a Gardener.

I like green scarves so when I have seen this beauty on the display of H sales last year, I could not resist! Even when they were still made, the 90 cm mousselines scarves were hidden in the drawers at H stores. I have not seen any...

As this scarf has grey and brown spots, it goes with a lot of tops and dresses. Today, I have chosen to pair it with a light grey linen shirt, to enhance the grey part of the scarf. And it is also the occasion to show you one of my last acquisitions : the Dalva horn and gold leaf earrings. I love them because it is perfect with my hair color. For years, I have avoided yellow gold, preferring white gold or silver, and now I am wondering if yellow is more flattering for my face... need to think about it...

  1. Oh la la!!

Those earrings are smashing on you! Smashing! Yep, I think you might need to start rethinking the whole yellow gold question. It's an odd feeling, though, isn't it? I've recently been adding gold/golden pieces, and wow . . . it works, but it's a whole other feeling. The great thing about these Moonlight earrings (and pendant) is the gold isn't bold or too yellow, so it works easily with silver or cool colors. Best of both worlds.

    They are perfect!

Also exquisite is that scarf. The green is to-die-for. And there are few motifs more lovely that Soirée de Gala. I'm swooning. Between you and Bienchen, I might fall off the edge and try to find a 90cm twill (I have been swearing them off in preference of 70cm silks).

And the question of green leads me to your Evelyne . . . I've been looking at one exactly like it. Exactly! And it calls, especially in the springtime when there's all this lush grass everywhere. In this, you are clearly an inspiration as you wear it so well!

Last: I'm so happy you enjoyed a vacation in Portugal! Clapping! You and G deserve it!

  2. You look wonderful. Those earrings are amazing on you. I think the yellow gold works on you when it is a cooler shade gold. I agree about green for scarves, when your scarf choice is Hermès. Thanks for the pictures.

  3. It must be Soirée de Gala week! This is a lovely mousseline, the green is perfect for Spring. You were so lucky to find this at the sale. As for the earrings, yes to those, I think the gold is so subtle and just right.

Thanks for the link, too and have a wonderful w/end.

  4. Catherine, Beryl and Bienchen, you're totally right, the gold of the Dalva is amazing : soft but not dull. You had the exact word : "perfect"!

    Catherine,
the green of the Evelyne is great, it is the exact color of a former bag I owned 10 years ago (but unfortunately a strawberry/rhubarb compote fall over and stain my bag forever), a leather cabas by Vanessa Bruno. It was perfect for spring and summer, as my Evelyne does. And the Ardennes leather (which is not made anymore by H) is so strong : mine looks like new but it is 19 years-old!

  5. This is a wonderful colour, not good on many but you ,on you it's fabulous.
I too love Soiree de Gala [ sorry ,our keyboard's stopped doing accents] and wavered over the greenish/fuschia in silk twill .It's so lovely in Mousseline .....

Your earrings are beautiful . I just love the feeling I get putting on the Lift earrings ...it always feels like a special event . Probably because I always wear very simple small earrings .

  6. Superbe accord des couleurs ! Bravo !

  7. Thank you Estrella. The Lift earrings are gorgeous and in the same way very easy to wear, adding a touch of chic to the outfit.
