Quand Soudain : Hermès Vintage Silk scarf 70 cm (AW 2010) |
Last winter I was wearing the Quand Soudain scarf with a white top, which was not necessarily flattering to the complexion. After several attempts, he has finished in the bottom of my closet until spring...
Fortunately, this fall I found this vivid red T-shirt that allowed me to create a whole new look, much more dapper.
Indeed, if there is touches of red H (dark red), there are also touches of vivid red (red Garance ?), including the flag with the H on it, and it is these that I chose to showcase through the tie knot style. In fact, a simplification of the knot tie, which I use ofter with my pleated scarves : after having folded the scarf in the basic biais fold, juste tie a knot at one third of the scarf, then move the other end into this knot. Could not be more simple !
To contrast with the bright red T-shirt and scarf, I wanted to focus on the dark part of the scarf : so I have worn black pants, black belt, black cardigan and Skipper black bracelet.
This scarf is lovely too when worn with blue jeans to highlight its blue tones.
Next time, it is with a dress I would wear this scarf!

To go outside, I added over a cashmere and silk shawl (Hermès always!) that I found in a consignment shop a few months ago. This is on old model, probably from the 70's or 80's. Indeed, the care tag doesn't look like to those that are currently done, the location of the copyright also indicates that the shawl is prior to 1985 and finally the thickness of the shawl (thicker than the current shawls). Despite extensive research, I did not find his name (it is not written on it, as it is the case for the majority of Hermès scarves and shawls). The only indication I have found is a picture of the same shawl in another color way on The Purse Forum, the owner thought the name is "A la Gloire d'Hermès" (To the glory of Hermès) but she is not sure... so if one of you can help me, I would be very grateful.
Missing on the picture : my green Evelyne bag.

Sorry for the pics today, the weather was very bad, without any sunray.
I was never into the Quand Soudain design but after seeing your pictures, I love it! You look wonderful (you should be a model) in it. I also like the shawl, the colors are unbelievable. I'm so glad you write this blog in French (so I can practice) and also in English (so I can see if I am translating it correctly). I hear the prices are about to go up at Hermes so I am thinking of getting another 70cm scarf (Le Boubou H in blue/black/white) before that happens, if it's still available anywhere. XO, Jill
RépondreSupprimerYou look beautiful today, Scarfmoodist! The bright red is smashing on you, including the lipstick. And I love, love this scarf! You've definitely found a way to make it fresh and fun, rather than very safe as it tends to be (I tried on that colorway and it seemed to dull my complexion as much as I wanted it to work--now I know, knot it with the bright showing!).
RépondreSupprimerYour cashmere is gorgeous--the pattern is so classic, it can work with nearly everything.
Thank you Jill and AA.
RépondreSupprimerWriting in English allows me to improve (and I need it!).
Le Boubou H is a wonderful pattern (I have it in dark pink colorway) and as it is not too "overwhelmed", it goes wonderfully with shirts or dresses. The blue colorway will be gorgeous with a pair of blue jeans and a white shirt for spring.
You are really a lipstick expert AA : it is a brand new one that I had bought a few hours before :-) I was looking for Rouge Coco #25 (warm red, with a bit of orange) but impossible to find, so I finally bought this Estée Lauder lipstick (#15 Woodland berry) - an Indian pink! - which is quite different from my beloved "Pomegranate" from Laura Mercier. It is the first time that I wear such color! It will be perfect with my Arbre de la Vie shawl...
You are right about the shawl : the black color allows to wear it with black and grey outfits and the natural color allows to wear it with beige ones. Great!
You look really pretty, rouge vif suits you perfectly!
RépondreSupprimerI had a look at some reference websites, but could not find your shawl anywhere, it looks so soft and warm!
I hope you will show us some modelling photos of your new Marwari soon, I am looking into getting this one too :)
Have you been to the Paris H sales last week? I was going to come over (I'm in Luxembourg), but the weather scared me away!
All the best,
MaggyH
Thank you MaggyH for your help!
RépondreSupprimerI didn't go to the H sales this time because the only thing in that collection that I missed are the shawls and in order to have a chance to find one I would have had to be at the sales at 6.30 AM without any insurance to find something (besides, I already have 7 shawls and my 2 latest acquisitions are my favorites : la Danse du Cheval Marwari and l'Arbre de la Vie).
I will try to post a modelling pic of my new Marwari bag this week. Hope that will help you in your choice :)
All the best,
Scarfmoodist
